I found one entry that listed 6 overlay icons for OneDrive. I actually have only four defined overlay icons in my registry, including none for OneDrive. It appears they are grasping at straws rather than getting someone involved who really understands OneDrive.įortunately, I found several forum entries that talk about a problem with having too many overlay icons, icons that overlay the regular file icons. It said it corrected some files, but no difference with my OneDrive icons. I even downloaded a new copy of OneDrive and installed it over the one I had. I am not positive, but I believe they had been showing earlier in the day. However, that evening I noticed that the little sync icons (the green circle with a check) were no longer showing on the folders and files in Explorer. The next morning it came up as all files are synced. I just assumed that, since OneDrive was offline for a while, perhaps it needed to check to see if changes had happened. It did not seem to be copying many files, just checking for sync. That suggests that it was going through every file in my OneDrive directory and comparing to the web version. It then said it was syncing files, counting down from around 55,000. I just assumed I had accidentally closed it. Two evenings ago, when I was doing a manual file backup with another backup program (Retrospect), I noticed that the OneDrive icon had disappeared from the task bar. I have a subscription to Microsoft 365 personal that gives me 1TB of storage. I always open it at startup and keep it running. It has been working for a long time for me.
